Our first Bluedreamer Bred RW SGC! Round of applause for Charmayne @ Marlcreek for getting our home bred boy to multiple shows in a very short period of time!  (If it weren't Covid, I'm sure he'd have achieved his IW!)

  Bluedreamer Ragdolls of Kansas City

Hello!
We are a small TICA & CFA registered cattery, family show/breeder located in South Kansas City, Missouri, striving for excellence in health, socialization, temperament and conformation. We require spay/neuter prior to kitten being released to new families. Declawing is strictly prohibited.

We mostly show in CFA, since there are several local shows here every year, but also enjoying starting to show in TICA, as well.

Our cats/kittens are raised in our home with children and dogs. Kittens are whelped in our bedroom and spend their first few weeks right next to me. When their eyes open, and they start to move about, we move them into the living room, where they quickly become accustomed to the sights and sounds of everyday living. Until they transfer from our hands to yours, these sweet babies are held, stroked, snuggled and loved. They will be well socialized and of good temperament. Each kitten will be de-wormed, vaccinated, fecal-tested on schedule micro-chipped, spay/neutered and vet-checked TWICE before going home. We are here for the lifetime of these precious babies.

HEALTH
Documents are always here onsite to view. FIV free cattery. DNA Testing: All Bluedreamer Kings and Queens are DNA tested for HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease), Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency, PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy), Mucopolysaccharidosis VI and VII, through CFA Neogen (http://www.catdnatest.org/ ). Launching of the new DNA test for dwarfism has been delayed, but hopefully will be available by end of 2022.

UPDATE: 2021-2022, we  transitioned from Neogen DNA testing to Optimal Selection
https://optimal-selection.com/products/optimal-selection-feline  so we may test for 40+ genetic diseases, 20+ traits, and blood type (click on link for details), And YES, documents will always be here onsite to view. Kitten families receive a copy in their packet or electronically Our prices are increasing in 2022 to cover this and a few new things that will better our cattery.

TRADITIONAL RAGDOLLS ONLY
We have been asked if we carry the "RARE" Mink, Solid or Sepia Ragdolls. Since these are not true Ragdolls, not included in the breed standard, and not eligible to register or show, we do not. Our respect for the breed and the others who have worked to hard to establish the Ragdoll breed, does and always will come first.

While we only started our cattery in 2017, we have bred Cavalier King Charles Spaniels for several years. The key to success is having a mentor, being a member of professional breed clubs/groups, and networking with other committed highly ethical breeders. My Ragdoll and Cavalier breeder friends are priceless. I appreciate the wisdom of Kansas Ragdolls, Rosecottage. Marlcreek, Ohemgee, & Cottonblues to name a few. We are also huge fans of FLOPPYCATS, https://www.floppycats.com/ where you can find a treasure trove of everything there is to know about Ragdolls!

TAKE YOUR TIME
Do your homework and a lot of research.  Be wary of breeders using registries other than CFA/TICA (such as ACA). There is no guarantee of lineage, no breed standard, and their offspring are ineligible to be registered with CFA or TICA. Listen to what you "feel" when you speak to another breeder. Are you feeling unsettled? Are there red flags? Are you being rushed? Do they want to use Walmart Moneygram or other uncommon payment method? Do they require deposits before a litter is born, or require you pay for the kitten upfront (more than 2 weeks before pick-up) ? Does something make you hesitate? I encourage you, to keep looking if you ever feel something is not right, even if you are in complete infatuation with a picture! (It's happened to me, too.) Slow down, take your time and wait for the right breeder. Maybe find a few you like. There are many great ones, but also poor ones, and scammers too! Visit a Cat show in your area to meet Ragdoll breeders. Most are happy to speak to you and show off their beautiful cats!
Every breeder works differently, but I would caution putting down a deposit before a litter has even arrived. Why? What if you change your mind about the breeder (and you start feeling uncomfortable)? Chances are you are locked in unless you are willing to forfeit your deposit. What happens if the litter doesn't make it? Health problems are found in the kittens? Ask questions about the breeder's policy. Many breeders will keep the deposit and have you wait for a future litter. It all depends on you, and what you are comfortable with!

CONTACT
I may not respond if we do not have any kittens to offer or do not have what you are looking for. I sincerely regret I am unable to respond to every application received. We do not start taking applications, conducting phone interviews, and taking deposits until a litter is 8-9 weeks old. That is the age when we have veterinary evaluations for health, and also when we evaluate for show & separate potential picks for breeders. The remaining kittens are available for kitten families. Like you, I wear any hats and cat breeder is only one of them.  We have our church, kids at home, college and post-college, elderly parents who need our time and attention. I work PRN as an occupational therapist and professional speaker. One week I may work very long days and others, I don't work outside the home at all. We are a small cattery, and plan to remain small, therefore we only plan a handful of litters a year. Everyone who adopts one of our kittens is very important to me and is welcomed into the Bluedreamer family! We receive so many wonderful applications, yet it's so hard we are unable to fulfill them all.

 KITTEN VENDING MACHINE
I don't mean to laugh, but we do not have one of these!  We are small. If a family contacts me wanting a "female Blue Bi-color in the summer" that is nearly impossible for me to fulfill. Unfortunately, I cannot predict color, sex, pattern or timing until a litter has arrived and their color starts to come in.  The cats almost have total control of this. It is much easier to get a kitten if you let me know you are flexible - such as "I want a female of any color or pattern", or "I would love a Blue Mitted of either sex. Things move quicker if you just want a loving pet! More about this on the Contact Page!
